Given that the colour green is considered by artists, designers and pyschologists to be a "restful colour", why then, do the Military "wear green uniforms"?

Or, should the question be, why do artists, designers and psychologists consider green to be a "restful colour"?

Psychologists reckon : http://psychology.about.com/od/sensationandperception/a/color_green.htm

Grean also represents tranquility, good luck, health, and jealousy.
Green is often used in decorating for its calming effect.
Green is thought to relieve stress and help heal.

How ironic is the psychologists reasoning...?

FYI I fully understand why combats are "green"...before you all go off on one

It is just because of camuflage.

If you think that theres more to that, look back 200 - 300 years, and you will find that there were as much blue, red, yellow, and other colors as green on unifirms........

I don't know the psychology of the color green but will say that the air force and navy don't wear green. The uniforms are blue or white!

Not too sure but maybe someone in the military read an article somewhere (one of the higher up and generals and whatnot) and possibly thought well hey why don't we try this for the boys (and girls) out there. Highly unlikely but you never know.
