The first thing to happen after the official announcement is that Parliament goes into recess. It can conduct no more business until the next monarch re-opens it in his name, instead of hers.

The next thing is that a pre-arranged Accession Council of important people (e.g. Prime Minister, Archbishop of Canterbury, Lord Mayor of London, several more) meet to agree who is designated the next monarch according to current Acts of Parliament.

The said person is then announced to be King, and his first job is to re-open Parliament and to make a pre-defined once-in-a-lifetime speech, mostly to do with him now being head of the Church of England (or maybe not being - we must wait and see). Then everything can begin to get back to normal, unless the Archbishop of Canterbury finds that he is now the absolute head of the Church of England, like the various national heads of the Eastern Orthodox church. I hope Charles has warned him.

Charles would become King, unless he abdicates to Will. Can you imagine Camilla's influence? Of course she will not be crowned Queen because she is a divorced woman, but imagine what power she might have over Charles.

If it's the Queen of England, her oldest son Charles will become King of England. Unless there is some arrangement made that his oldest son William will inherit the throne. That arrangement may have been made in order for him to marry Camilla.

She will be succeeded immediately by the next in line, who currently is Prince Charles. (actual coronation would be arranged some point later in agreement with the government.) The state funeral for the Queen is already being rehearsed by the military.

I will raise a glass in celebration, thinking of all the Africans, Indians, Irish and Americans who were slaughtered so the imperialist regime of which she is a direct beneficiary could grow fatter and richer; and the jewels stolen from India and Zimbabwe; and the animals shot and hunted to death by she and her violent family; and the billions of pounds hoarded selfishly.

Then I shall turn up at Buck House and ask to be shown to my room, as we are constantly told it is "our" property.
