get your provisional license..... 40 quid (all figures rounded up)
get your cbt 90-110 quid
get a cheap 125cc 800quid plus innsurance say bout 350 quid
get your dsa course to ride any size engine.. bout 500 quid and realistically month or little over, then 3000quid for second hand 1000cc which you insure for 600-700quid then come of it in a month and spend another month in bed complaining bout the skin loss for no leathers, then spend another 3000quid getting the 500cc you should'a got instead of the 1000cc.... after that fun for life and the knowledge that you are now an organ donor for every stupid blind car driver (oh and a member of the best species ever---- Bikers)

Take a CBT (compulsary basic training) at your local training centre for around £90 which only takes a day and you can ride a 125 on the road with L plates (and obviously insurance, tax & mot). You won't be able to carry pillions and you can't go on motorways but other than that you are free to terrorise the roads.
After the CBT if you decide you want to ride a bigger bike, because you are over 21 you can do a direct access course (DAS) which allows you to ride anything. Discuss this with your school as they all go about it slightly differently but typically you'll do a 2 hour assesment on a 500cc bike. After this the instructor will tell you how many hours he thinks you need to bring you up to test standard (usually about 8-10 hours at £25-30/h). Then you book a date to start the lessons. You can spead them out to 1 hour a week if money is tight but the usual and best way is to complete all the hours in one go over the course of 2/3 days then do the practical test the day after (test cost about £55). Sometime between completing the CBT and taking the practical test you must sit a theory test (double check this but i think it's about £30) at an approved testing centre. It's best to get this out of the way asap as you can't sit the practical test without it and waiting times are sometimes quite long.
Typically to go from never having sat on a bike before to being able to ride anything you want costs about £500 which include bike hire and any equipment, and can be done in as little as 3 days.

Hi there, You will need to apply for a provisional motorcycle licence first. Then find a local motorcycle training. Ask at a motorcycle dealership or look at Yell.com for training in your area. Better still ask someone that you might see being trained(make sure they are not on their test)
Training then consists of CBT (compulsary basic training) after that you will be able to ride unaccompanied up to 125cc or if you are going to do the direct access the training will continue at a pace set by you and your trainer. CBT costs between £130 and £180 depending on area
Before taking your test you will need the theory test and again your instructor will go through this with you
Good luck but do pay attention to the instructor whilst training and remember it after you pass and take as much as you can to make you one of the better riders out there and not one of the statistics

Go to your local licence testing center and they should have the motorcycle learners manual, then you will probably have to take a sight test, written test, and riding test on your own motorcycle.
I don't know about the UK, but here in the US they just add a motorcycle endorsment to your drivers licence for your auto.

Hello,
Best thing to do is call your local motorcyle training agency. They will be able to tell you everything you need to know free of charge.
I sat my test a good few years ago and I needed a provisional driving licence and I also had to sit a motorcycle theory test.
It all costs money unfortunately, but a training agency will be able to give you exact costs.

you need to contact a local training class, apparently it takes a bit to pass these days & they will get through & teach you how to ride it properly. Hell when i passed mine i just turned up with no formal training, drove around town a few times whilst the examiner wandered around in the opposite direction. easy peasy,
hence most 17 yr olds would pass their test on a suzi 100 then go buy a z1000000 & kill themselves
GET PROPER TRAINING & GOOD LUCK
