do you have a ti 83 or 84?
if you do, put in 5.

then go to the math menu. there's a button that looks like this: x√
on the ti 83, it's 5

finally, input the number that you want to find the root to.

other calculators do it too, but that's the one i have.

The fifth root of 18.2 may be written as 18.2 ^ (1/5),
or what is the same thing, 18.2 ^ (0.2).
On my calculator, I first enter 18.2,
then press the key marked x^y,
then enter .2 (note that it is point 2),
then press the equals sign.
The answer given is 1.786546307.
Calculating to 3 decimal places, you raise the
first 6 to a 7, because the digit after the 6 (which
is in the third place) is greater than or equal to 5.
So the answer becomes 1.787.
Your calculator may have a button which can
limit the number of output decimals, so you'll
have to check out the instruction manual.

If your calculator has a ^ key or a y^x key, you can do an nth root by raising to the (1/n) power.

That means that the 5th root of 18.2 = (18.2)^(1/5)
