the windows xp means nothing since your harddrive crashed.... but considering the dell 4600 isnt available anymore, some people may want the spare parts.... its probably not worth too much... all thats worth anything is the motherboard, power source, memory stick and the case....considering how fast computers change its not gonna get more than 100 bucks

First of all, you do not have Win/XP on your computer any more because it was located on your hard drive and your hard drive is dead. Second, the restore CDs the other guy talked about will not reload a full version on Win/XP on a new hard drive.
You have some good parts there though. You have a good processor and mother board. Plus extra RAM and CD/DVD burner. You could sell the whole thing for $100 or get someone to put the CD/DVD burner into your new computer along with the extra RAM. This will upgrade your new computer.

why dont you goto Office Max, buy a new harddrive, replace the harddrive, and use the "restore" cd's that came with your dell. Then sell it, or use it for something else.. Hard Drives are replaceable, and pretty cheap too considering you can buy a 250GB harddrive for ~$150.00
Search eBay.com see what other people are listing the Dell dimension tower 4600 for, and adjust as you see fit (maybe subtract like 15-20$ for the missing harddrive). If you do sell your machine on ebay, do remove the harddrive first, no telling what someone would do w/ your information if they took your failed harddrive to a data storage recovery place, and got hold of useful personal information..(you know, like bank accts, or passwords to yahoo and myspace).

DELL dimension 4600's on ebay are sellling for 250-300 in working condition. A hard drive costs $75-$200 depending on the size. I would estimate it to be worth around 100.00 with the bad hard drive. You may want to consider replacing the hard drive.

I would not sell it for less than $200. The machine is still worth some money. If you still have the restore CD for the operating system, this is worth more. It will restore your operating system and if you have the "blue" CDs from Dell for the device drivers, the machine can be restored to factory settings. The restore CDs is worth $50 by itself from Dell. I've gotten it for free from Dell when I reported my lost.

Pop open the case on the Dell and seem for a cable connecting to the boot tension, there might desire to be yet another connection and slot. particularly common relatively. If it do no longer artwork, then the 2nd tension must be set as a slave tension.
