wow, well umm the main issue here is your sister treating you like crap and laying on the guilt trips when she doesnt get her way - first of all, you said she has been on anti depressants for a long time and they havnt worked - so she needs to go to her doctor and let him know this and get on a different anti depressant. there are many on the market and some work for one person and not the next. As sick of her as you are, and you talk about severing ties,but what you need to do right now is not only be her sister,but her best friend, and help her to seek the help she needs. Now, you cant make her get this help - she has to admit she has these problems and want the help - otherwise there is nothing you can do for her... Also your husband needs to be a "good" brother in law and stop giving her medication by the sounds of it - your sister not only needs medical help from a professional,but psychological help.. You and your husband make a dinner date with her and have a long serious talk about the issues at hand.... while you are discussing things, let her know exactly how you feel about the way she treats you, and your husband needs to stand up as well, and let her know she isnt getting any more pills. If she doesnt have insurance then she needs to go to social services and get medicaid - and if she truly needs these medications - they will give her the medicaid to cover the pills. Both of you talk to her !! and both of you back eachother up ! If she admitts she has a problem, then you can take the next step and help her get into counceling and a doctors if she is already doing this, then I would suggest you help her seek a different counceling service and councelor and a different doctor because obviously the ones she has arent doing there job. during the conversation with her - justy plain out tell her that her behavior has to change and now, or you are going to walk away and not look back. Have you ever heard of tough love ?? well this is a case where it is needed. If she admitts to the problem and is willing to get the help she needs, then you need to be supportive of her and help her do this, and take it a step further and both of you take out a membership at the ywca or a local gym and go with her once or twice a week and excersize together... when the weather is nice and you have some extra time to commit - then invite her to go to a park and the two of you can take a walk together... It realy sounds like not only does she have the psychological issues going on, but very low self esteem because of her weight.. again she has to be willing to help herself and admit that she has a problem before anyone can do anything for her. Before you sever ties, talk to her, and be a sister and good friend and try to get her to see what she is doing and try to get her the help she needs so desperatly........ if she isnt willing to listen or throughs a tantrum - you are free to walk away and not look back. you shouldnt have to listen or be put under stress by her guilt trips or her childish behavior because she doesnt get what she wants or because your not there at her becon call and let her know this - let her know that she is treating you very unfairly.. at least if you do walk away, youll know you tried and have it off your chest letting her k now how you feel.......

There is only so much people can take of the media, I think she has finally snapped and had a breakdown.
Unfortunatly this will cause a more media frenzy, she really needs her family to step in and tell the media to back off.
