It's the summer solstice and generally it is about June 20/21 the date is not exact as some years are slightly longer than others in terms of calender days. Our year isn't an exactly even number of days, it is 365.25 days that pesky 0.25 is the cause of the inexact date of the solstice.

Some countries have the start to the season on the solstice or equinox, some don't. Summer starts in Australia on 1st of December and the other seasons start on the 1st March, June and September. It makes no difference as four seasons are northern European artefact anyway which have been imposed on the rest of the world.
Starting on the first of the month makes seasonal statistics very much easier to do.

Officially it's June 21st
Most people consider it summer Memorial day weekend which is the last weekend in May
By the looks of the stores around my house, however, it appears summer is here already! ( they are selling bikini's, BBQ's, and patio tables )

June 21st is the calendar date. However, the real date is when the earth tips it's axis back toward the sun or meteorological summer.
