It's been less than 14 days. Don't worry about why I want to cancel it - just want to know if I can, and will there be a charge. I don't want an exchange, I just want to cancel the contract COMPLETELY.

(by the way - this REALLY sucks... My contract was set up in my best friend's FATHER'S name... he lives hundreds of miles away from me in scotland... Phones4u conned me into believing it would be easy for him to set up the account for me and that it wouldnt cost him a penny and it'd be easy for me to take control of the account afterwards. they promised me he would not have to be involved in the contract at all as soon as he granted me access to the account! I've been totally decieved and now I need to cancel the contract as soon as possible with as little inconvenience to him as possible!!) I am so embarrassed and annoyed!

Phones 4u offer you 7 days to notify us of your intention to return from the date of delivery (Inclusive of the day of delivery), and a further 7 days to return the purchase to us. Your purchased item must be in perfect condition, in the original packaging and we will refund your purchase. Just keep your receipt and all you will be charged for is the line rental used and any calls made (if applicable).
You will need to obtain returns authorisation from the Phones 4u Direct Support. The purchased item must reach our warehouse within 14 days of connection otherwise the return will not be processed, and the item will be returned to yourself.

Yes.
The phone has to be in the original condition and you will have to return everything you got with it.
Vodafone will charge you for a month's line rental as the bill is generated pretty much straight away, and anything you have used. Best bet is to pay the bill and they will settle it once they've received the cancellation stuff from P4U.
Best bet is to go in there as soon as possible. You'll have to tell them why you want to cancel, which will avoid them trying to sell you anything else....
After reading your additional details....I am a little concerned about this. If it was taken out in your friend's father's name, please tell me he was there to do the contract and the credit check, or else that was very very naughty of Phones4U.
I think that you should get in contact with their head office/customer care team and explain the situation, as you appear to have been mislead.....the contract will always be in this chap's name. In order to transfer it to yourself, you would have had to pass a credit check (be over 18) and sign paperwork to agree to the transfer.

legally you do have a certain number of days within which to cancel your contract, sorry I don't know how many days this is, maybe you should read your contract, or ring phones4U asking about their contracts and slip in the question of how long you have to cancel, if you are still in time just say, oh good well whilst im on the phone i'd like to cancel my contract please !

Depends on what the cancel clause is. But tell them you wish to cancel and then change your credit card number. They will cancel your service but whether you are charged a fee or not, depends on the contract. Also, you do not have to pay , but in the US , it will reflect on your credit record. Also harder to get a phone next time, as they may require a stiff deposit down too.

I think you just walk into phones4u and tell them you want to cancel. if its under the 14days of the cooling off period you should be ok. If you have used the phone then you will be liable to the outstanding balance of the 1st months bill. But make sure you have all bits n pieces, cables charger, box etc.

supply them a telephone and end till they have cancelled that settlement. My dad had a issue with Vodafone too (mysterious prices on the bill that shouldn't were there) and, it grow to be troublesome, yet he sat on that telephone till his settlement grow to be properly and quite cancelled.

if you check the small print on your contract it should say how long you get to "cool off" this is usually how long you have to cancel, generally it is between 7 and 21 days, good luck

did you sign a contract and witnessed because if you did and Vodafone dont wish to relinquish then you are unable to withdraw that maybe was not what you wanted to hear but a contract is signed for the sole reason of sealing a deal
