This is frustrating to me. Why do people think that gay people abuse and molest children, and all that? Why do they also assume that they will 'raise their children to be gay'? Heterosexual couples don't only have heterosexual children, in case you didn't know.

I'm gay, I'm curious to know why people think this. That's all.

they don't assume, they hope if they repeat it enough people will believe them. You will notice in this arguement that gays use facts to prove their point whereas their opponents make statements with nothing to back them up.

I don't think for a second that gay couples are irresponsible or abusive parents. In some respects they may make better parents because they would probably instill a sense of tolerance in their children that heterosexual parents may not (remember, I said MAY not).

One concern that I do have lies in the social interaction with other children. Kids are sometimes unspeakably cruel, and are likely to relentlessly torment the child of a gay couple. This will almost surely have detrimental effects on that child's psychological development.

Then again, I'm no expert, so I may be wrong.

It boggles the mind. Most pedophiles are HETEROSEXUAL. And people are not "raised to be gay". I hate stereotypes and this is the worst type of stereotype becasue no one in society is lower than the pedophile. People will probably answer that they do not think that gay people abuse and molest children but that does not stop the fact that many if not most have this deep-seated ignorance.

The myth that same-sex couples create dysfunctional children has been disproven time and time again and there is no evidence to support it only bias and righteousness.

Well, actually, most people in most civilized places don't make these assumptions. It's only a tiny minority which makes such bizarre conclusions, based upon inventions in their own twisted brains.

But scarey stories and crazy ideas sound better on TV, so you might have a warped perspective, from watching too much TV.

Or, if i was cynical, I'd say that your question is actually a stealth statement which sounds 'fair' but actually intends to insult gays -- it's either this, or you live in Missouri!

It just comes with the bigotry. If your gonna get discriminated for being gay your gonna be judged for having kids. just deal with it as you have for being gay. its unfortunate that people are still judging people for their sexuality and do not seem concerned about whats best for the children. A comfortable happy childhood which can be supplied by both gay and straight parents.

The biggest reason I can think of is pure ignorance. People have been brainwashed into thinking that gay people have a disease, that they are abnormal, and even promiscuous.. When you live with those stereotypes for so long, it is difficult for them to change their thinking.

because they are ignorant and afraid of the truth- that same-sex parents raise children the same as heterosexual parents

Because they are slow-witted and easily led to believe in stereotypes. Smart people know that a person's parenting skills are not related to race, sexual orientation, economic status, etc.

As usualy, Hilary... is about as far out of line as can be. Gay couples make better parents than straight couples. Gay couples do not raise their kids to be gay, they tend to raise them in an atmosphere of openess, understanding, and love. I raised my two sons, and they are both straight as an arrow, and neither of them is homophobic in any way. In fact, they think all these straights out there who are homophobic to any extent are just plain worthless...my sons are smart, aren't they?

because they are ignorant and close-minded. you can't "teach" a child to be gay. I was born to straight parents (as the majority of us are), they didn't "teach" me to be straight! I happen to be lesbian. I just am who I am...and I'm certain it's genetic.
