Aside from the obvious benefits of being vaccinated, well-fed, and living in loving homes, there are a lot of reasons why all dogs and cats should not be allowed to go feral. Feral dogs run in packs and they are more destructive and dangerous than wild animals. The wild animals tend to get blamed for the livestock they kill and the damage they cause as well. It's very likely a pack of feral dogs would also attack humans given the opportunity. It would be a nightmare.

well pets also need homes i mean some dogs or cats could live in the wild but when your at home and snug as a bug in a rug during a thunder storm those "happy wild animals are out in the cold"

i would much rather have a happy dog in captivity then a dog thats abused desised and starving free honestly think of the stray dogs you see do they look happy and healthy to you pet are bred to be cared for by humans that love them if you think its wrong for people to have pets just dont get any yourself dont misjudge us that do have pets.

i have two birds, and two dogs we love them very much the dogs have our whole hous and a large fenced in back yard will allthe time acces through doggie doors

the truth is that dogs and cats and pets were bred or desighned to be cared for by humans

thats just plain fact we made them that way if people have a problem with seeing animals that are actually happy with life in captivity they are seeing things the wrong way

i will agree with you that animals that are unhappy in captivity should be free but you think not of the poor strays thay want and need nurchuring

Wel let me first say no you arent crazy I know many people who feel the same way as you.
Personally I think that by keeping these pets humans are helping them in a sense. Many that are weak or injured wouldn't stand a chance out in the wild.
I agree with you sort of like I don't agree with dog shows or outfits for pets just to make them look cute and/or show off that you can afford them. I also do not agree with petshops which usually mistreat pets and keep them in small enclosiors.
I do agree with shelters that keep weak or injured pets or even just pets that have no where to stay.
Anyway there are many different reasons why people keep pets, I have a great aunt whose husband died and she lives alone because she won't give up her house which has been in the family for 15 generations. My aunt often got lonely so she adopted a retired racing greyhound which would have been killed otherwise. She is alot happier now.

domesticated dogs and domesticated cats don't belong in the wild. look at what is happening with the feral cats. they were not ment to be running wild it is too dangerous and it screws up nature even more than the over developing of humans. USe your head, or have you been listening to PETA or something? They are the crazy ones, which automatically makes anyone who supports them equally crazy. Dogs and cats, dogs especially were created for human companionship and for them to do jobs for humans not to "run free" and die trying to fend for themselves. Sorry but sitting in someones warm home with someone to love them and care for them and give them food isnt exactly torture. Use your head, you set these animals out in the wild and they are pretty much dead. THAT would be "abuse" as you put it.

There's a few ways you could go about it.. 1) Artificial insemination 2) Adoption 3) Get a dude to impregnante you. If it would make you both feel better about the situation, you could have a lawyer draw up papers so the dude has no future rights to the kid and so he can be protected from any future child support requests from you. And the whole medical testing thing too if that would put you at ease.

I don't think you crazy - just very one-sided in your view of the situation.

I live in the Northeast - we have very cold winters and tons of street traffic. Every day I see animals dead on the side of the road or injured from being attacked by other animals. They struggle to find food (dogs don't hunt - they are scavengers and would be subjected to rifling through trash cans for food), they are exposed to the elements, exposed to diseases (unless they get vaccinations to prevent them) which can cause illness, death, spread diseases.

Does that REALLY sound BETTER to you than having a roof over your head, a lap to curl up on, a reliable source of food, medical care and love? If it does, maybe you are crazy.

you're not crazy, that's just you're opinion. but domesticated pets should be pets, bcuz they can't survive in the wild. dogs are the domesticated form of wolves and such. maybe certain animals might could survive out there, but very few, but it really depends. if you give them a lot of love, then they'd rather be with you, then out in the wild with no shelter. i know my dog, Zoe, loves her life, and i can tell by her face, and the way she treats us. we once let her outside to see what she would do(she's an indoor dog) and she was barking as loud as she could, and begging to get back in. that was our test, and now we know she will love us unconditionally!!

well some pets love 2 b wit their owners bcuz they treat them right ... i remeber wen i was giving my dog away and it wont want 2 leave the house .... and it would start crying ...t hats shows that it liked were it was and it was happy.. animal abuse is when the animal is not treated right and it is unhappy.. so i dont think ur crzy...its ur opinion but u should think bout it 4 a while .... if i hav a pet that wants 2 escape from me bcuz its not happy than that sounds like animal abuse....

Well, if I were my 13 year old cat, would I rather be lounging on the couch like she is now, in a patch of sun, with bowls of clean food and water nearby....

or....

Outside with the other bazallions of "wild" animals, digging through trash cans, and fending for my life with cars zooming by, being chased by animal control?

Hmm.....tough decision.
