does anyone know where you can get background music to play your guitar over blues rock etc.

Not really that I know... they give some tracks on training CDs, but that's very little. I make my own backgrounds in GarageBand, EasyBeat or Logic (all Mac). There's a Fender model that has programmable patterns you can use for practice:

And it's a decent amp, so you kinda kill two birds with one stone.

Check out Vision Music.com.. It used to be free.. there are a few sound tracks that are free.. It's not that expensive. The owner, Mark Stefani is a great guy and a great guitarist too
