Depends what you'll be looking to do. I would say make sure to check out the North End and Fanueil Hall .That is a nice day trip you can walk around and do. For some history of course the Freedom Trail is great, or some of the musuems downtown, like the MFA or Science Musuem. Go to the top of the Prudential Center for great views of the city!

It really depends when you are going to be there. In the warmer months I would recommend a Duck tour

and a tour of Fenway Park

During the winter months you will want to spend time indoors at a Celtics game (I know they suck this year) or atop the Prudential building. NOTE: If you actually take the walking tour in the Pru you will learn a great deal about the city.

The science museum is good. I would recommend an IMAX movie in the dome theater at the museum.

I agree on the North End - lots of local flavors to be seen and eaten! Another great area is along Newbury Street, great boutiques and funky shops to check out. Faneuil Hall is touristy, but it's also fun - usually street performers everywhere to enjoy.

I would take a trolley tour of the city. It is a great way to get a fully narrated tour of the city and the best way to get around.
