I thought the telegram was dead?
However the essential art of writing telegrams is the conveyance of your message in the smallest possible space with the greatest possible clarity. For instance:-
"come home father dead funeral wednesday.
mum"
Says it all - telegrams were charged by the word! If it was very expensive circuit then you could reduce even that to 'return father buried wednesday' dropping the signature.

only write what you want to convey, as they are ussually charged per word.
eg money received thanks
