That is not necessarily a "yes" or "no" question. I do think Nixon chose someone who would be loyal to his agenda and to him personally, and someone who may have been inclied to have pardoned him- I think when he chose him as VP in 1973 he didn't think it would come to that. On the other hand, I don't think there was "quid pro quo" so to speak.

no that is nonsense.nixon could never have forseen the circustances that would cause him to resign.
ford did the right thing for the good of the country and kept things on an even keel.he did a great job.he was honest and a man of principle who would never have been coerced into doing what he did not want to do of his own volition.
to say anything else is to diminish a man of substance.
