Does the printer have to have a network card or something like it? Can u hook it up to the router with a cable?

If I understand the question right, you want to print using a printer that is not connected directly to your computer. To do this, you must have File and Printer Sharing enabled on the computer the printer is connected to. After this, you can simply go to My Network Places, located on your desktop, navigate to your workgroup, click on the computer the that has the printer installed, click Printers, and then the printer you want to use, and select connect. Then, when you want to print, simply select that printer from the drop-down box.

The printer has to be configured for the network, at which point you press ctrl + p and search for it.
