Hiya I use to live just 30 minutes from Yokohama and worked there the for a while to. Okay first of all whats your job? Does it come with accomadation? Do you like your own space or are you happy to share an apartment?
*Food ... depends I am a strict veggie I use to eat out about 3 or 4 times a week in the night and every lunchtime also when out for coffee at least once a day. This would come to about 10,000 yen or so a week.
**Rent & Utilites ... this could be just about anything - I rented a 1LDK in Atsugi (30 minutes from Yokohama on the Sotetsu Line) I had gas/water/electric/skyTV/ADSL (but no phone) In total I paid about 70,000 yen a month. Getting an apartment in the first place was the expensive bit as a rule it is:One months rent + two months deposit + one months key money and also one month rent for the estate agent. Places further out from the main cities can mean cheaper deals I struck a great one only paying out 100,000.000 yen. Staying at a gaijin house (foreigner house) can make the whole thing a lot cheaper - being a bit like a student house you get your own private room and share bathroom/kitchen - I know only a couple of people who have done this one it worked for one it did not. (I could'nt do it).
Stock you new abode with loads of things from the hyaku en shop (100 yen shop - trust me they are amazing places - a really great one that will be relativly close to you is in Machida - take the Keihintohoku Line and Yokohama Line about a 30 minute journey - there is a 5 floor 100 Daiso store and you can buy hundreds of things you'll need all for 100 yen each - well 105 yen with tax).
***Clothes ... depends do you like lots of labels and a new outfit every week? Theres Gap and I found that cheaper than the UK, Uniqlo is cheap enough, as is SATY one other large department store - OIOI is good to but more expensive that Unilqo. There are great sales here a couple of times a year when you can get 70% off.
Your'll love it in Japan I am sure - Yokohama is a pretty great place - check out the Aka Renga (Red Brick Warehouses) it has great little shops one of which is called Salute and sells lots of great stylish homewares (such as lamps and coffee machines and blankets for sen yen (1,000.00 yen each). Good luck its an amazing place to live and work and Yokohama is one of the best areas to be. Let me know if you need any more info I'll do my best .

a million/2 3 hundred and sixty 5 days lease term is very unrealistic in Japan as comparable as everywhere in the international. what kind of visa status will you're taking to circulate into Japan? you're able to comprehend Japan isn't a state of your guy or woman u . s . a ..

Tokyo_Katie sure knows what she's talking about so I'd recommend taking her advice. The only thing I'd just like to add is to try to live as much as a local as you possibly can. Trying to re-create a living condition like that in Canada or the US over in Asia, especially in Japan, is going to be very expensive.
