I would have to disagree with John M there. The U.S. is in a war with Iraq because suppposedly there were "Weapons of Mass Destruction" in Iraq under Saddam Hussein's reign. It was also rumored that the Iraqi President was harboring terrorist activities. Because the Iraqi President is not a U.S. ally, the U.S. invaded Iraq.

However, there were no WMD's found in Iraq. No ties between Al-Qaeda and Saddam Hussein either.

The U.S.-led invasion sprung a complex civil war between Iraq's Sunni and Shiite factions. There is also the Iraqi insurgency fighting the American army in a sort of suicide bomber/guerrilla warfare style.

In conclusion, the whole thing has pretty much become a mess and the U.S. hasnt diminished the terrorist threat.

Whatever happened to trying to find Osama Bin Laden?

You're not at war with Iraq. That war is long over and it has been won.
You are now inside Iraq, fighting to protect Iraq from foreign intervention. The Iraqui people, after having been freed from decades of Saddams dictatorship, have elected their government and are in the process of training their own soldiers and policemen who will take over this task- once they have completed their training.
Bear in mind however that they are under overt and covert attack from several sources- the die hard Saddamists, the wannabe Saddamists (both secular and religious) and hungry neighbouring dictatorships all wanting a slice. So this fight is a hard one.
Why cant people just get along? I don't know what makes people want to become a Saddam or a Khomeini or a Stalin or a Mao or even a Castro and then oppress others into slavery. But I definetly know such people have to be stopped, and the US is the only power able (though not always willing) to do that

We are not at war with Iraq, we are at war with their enemies. The war on Iraq was won long ago, they had free elections. We must continue to help them fight off the Iranian and Syrian insurgents or the terrorists will gain back their strong hold on the country.

More of the Lib lies trying to blame the President for anything and everything.
Bang! Maria, you're dead wrong about ties to Saddam and WMDs....check the New York Times articles (a favorite Dem newspaper I might add). They published numerous articles during spring 2001 finding proof of both WMDs and the ties to between Saddam and terrorist groups!

Because our president and vice-president told us fabrications, such as that there were WMD's and that there was a link between Saddam and Al-Qaeda, even though new evidence came out that it wasn't the case.

You should be asking why Muslims all over the world are murdering innocent people wholesale.

(This thought rarely, if ever, occurs to liberals. They think that to get along we just have to put our weapons down. They forget that the other side has to put theirs down, too. Liberals are a danger to people worldwide as a result.)
