I was at my friends house and my friends dad was on a diet and had lost like 50 pounds. Well the wife said to him "I don't find you so disgusting anymore." He took it as a compliment. But I wondered what would happen if it was the other way around. What if the wife was fat and lost weight and the husband said that to her? How would you women react if your husband told you that your not so disgusting anymore????

being rude, mean and tackless is not a gender issue. it is an issue of being educated or uneducated & well-bred or ill-bred regardless of gender.

I would divorce him. You're right, it is more acceptable for women to say this type of thing than a man, but it is because of the way society perceives women - they are supposed to be perfect all the time, to look perfect, whereas men are not expected to spend so much time on their appearance. This comment could trigger an eating disorder in a woman, but in a man...not so likely.
But it was extremely tactless and rude of the wife to say that ESPECIALLY in front of company, unless it was a joke...in which case it still wasn't a good idea.

Women are a lot more sensitive about their looks.

And don't be suprised if the wife felt stupid after saying that. She might not have shown it, but I'm sure she did.

because most men don't really care about what other people think about their weight. Women are more self conscious men aren't. but that is a mean remark.

Age, weight, or the change in either - mention them to see women's fangs. That's why.
