The bases of a right triangular prism are right triangles with legs measuring 6 inches and 8 inches. The height of the prism is 14 inches. (I think the hypotenuse is 10 inches.) What is the surface area of the prism? Please show me how to do this problem. PLEASE and THANKS! I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE ANY HELP!!!

What you want to do is take the surface area of each section of the prism.
So first you have the bases, which will say are the triangles. So the SA of a triangle is (base*height)/2. Taking 6*8, we get the combined SA of both triangles=48 in sq.
Next take the SA of each side, which are rectangles. The first one is the one along the 8 in leg, so take 8*14=112 in sq. Then the next one is along the 6 in leg, so 6*14=84 in sq. And the last side is the one along the hypotenuse, which does equal 10 in! So 10*14=140 in sq.
Then all that is left to do is add all the parts together -> 48+112+84+140=384 in sq!

Good Luck!

Remember this: A=1/2 BH where A=area, B=base, H=height. In your case, the base is 6 inches or 8 inches, and the height is 14 inches. I'm not exactly sure what shape you are trying to describe, but if it is a right triangle with a 90 degree angle side, it should work.

ok u need to find the area of the triangle so do 6x8, and then times by 2 (because there are 2 triangles) then do 6x14, then 8x14, and then 10x14, (the 3 different sides) and add them all up,(including the 2 triangles) and theres ur answer. Hope this helps xXx
