EDIT: I've tried looking for the file and I can't find it.

Outlook has a temp folder... usually the folder begins with OLK. The older by default is hidden and the only way to find it is to use Start > Search and search for *OLK

HOWEVER.... if you saved the word doc, then when you closed the email you didn't click Yes to save the changes made, your changes have been lost.

Either do a search for the file if you can remember the name, or go back into your email and go through the same steps again, this time making a note of where the saved file is going. It could go to a temp file, or to my documents.

I would suggest you do a search on your machine to find out where it went. Search for the file name or the time modified, you should find it.
