If Nash was injured in tonight's game and could never play another NBA game, I don't think he'd be a lock for the Hall of Fame. In fact I'm not sure he'd get in.
Steve Nash was pretty much a nobody coming out of college from Santa Clara, someone they passed off as just padding his stats against inferior competition in weak conference. Than he got to Phoenix and got lots of time on the bench. He was part of a throw in with Dallas in the deal for Jason Kidd. His first year in Dallas he struggled so much the crowd use to boo whenever he got the ball.
Than all of the sudden Nash turned it around the next season. They said nobody spent more time in the gym than Nash shooting jump shots and working on his game. Still with Nash playing better and the Big 3 Nash, Finley, and Nowitzki, nobody crowned him the best point guard in the game. He was just thought of as a good player but not great. He wasn't an All Star, which I'm not saying he didn't deserve it, just he wasn't selected.
Now he moved onto Phoenix and started making history, which is a major bulletpoint the back to back MVPs, but the Suns haven't gone anywhere. They haven't even made the NBA finals, so a lock for the Hall of Fame, I'd say is stretching it quite a bit. Besides that critics will always say Nash can't defend and they'd be right. So you really have to construct an argument for Nash for the Hall of Fame

No two great seasons does not a career make thought he played dencently in Dallas in his early years i don't believe he currently has enough to make a case for the HOF if he retired today. Players who make it in have been consumate superstars for the majority of their careers and Nash wasn't even the best player on his own team until he came to Phoneix. Just like former Rams QB Kurt Warner who had 2 amazing seasons with St. Louis and won an MVP and a Superbowl MVP Nash's resume prior to this just isnt impressive enough.

he's not a lock, but he's one hell of a player....rarely do you see a guy who makes everyone around him better.
if you watch phoenix with and without him, you'd notice how valuable he is...
