My bestfriends grandma told us that astrology was a sign of the devil, but i really didn't buy it. Any feed back??

well the bible says worship no god before me
this being said some people take the vague meanings of astrology as if it was their religion is where "the devil" enters it many excuse me but "old fashioned" people take anything that can cause a person to sin can be considered the devil's work so the extreme cases of this color their decision of it being unholy

I have to agree with red ant, astrology should never be put above God, because after all, God did make the stars, but at the same time I feel that astrology does hold some truth, I just wouldn't worship astrology or make that my final ruling. Also, we have to be careful not to delve into other parts of it which can be dangerous (occultic practices, witchcraft, etc.) I'm a christian and I keep it simple and inspirational, I try my best not to look into astrology that much. I'm still learning about this too because everyone has different interpretations of what the bible says.

The Creator of all things, create knowledge and create the devil and create astrology. So, couldn't be bad
However, for Christians the use of divination or guessing is a sin, although, in the bible doesn't mention astrology.
Astrology is non exact science so is like the weather, may rain or not.
Advice, do not take seriously what it says, if mention sickness around, eat healthy. It says loss of money, save. but nobody can assure you that really will happen.
So don't worry.

Nooo thats silly!
Astrology is a form of psycology if you like, it explains personality, characteristics, habits which are important to paint a picture. Not that I would judge a person purely on their birth sign because a lot depends on when their moonsign is in, upbringing and a lot more.
Astrology helps us understand ourselves and people a lot more. Astrology has helped me a lot.
I have found a lot of truths in astrology, horoscopes I dont really believe in. My favourite Astrologers are Claire Petulengro and Liz Greene.

"There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his duaghter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, ora witch. Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer."
Astrology, channeling, ouijaboards, predicting the future, and much else is forbidden. The author of Deuteronomy does not argue that such practices fail to deliver what they promise. But they are "abominations" -- perhaps suitible for other nations, but not for the followers of God.

yes, i have to agree with some of you above ...
astrology, like all things that seem to be able to predict our future , should be taken with a bit of skepticism.
if not, it can be like the work of the devil.
why? because you will be giving up the one single best gift that God gave all his creations - FREE WILL.
another question you should ask yourself is this?
if you are supposed to be able to predict the future,
why is that person still trying to earn a living?
they will tell you that they cannot predict their own future to exploit their ability. that they can only help others, for a fee. lol !
that is perharps what your friend's grandma is warning you about.
as they say, a fool and his / her money are soon parted.
let me tell you a funny story ... it happened
a long time ago when i was a kid. it's a true story.
a rich lady went to consult a fortune-teller who read cards, astrology,etc.... while she was in there consulting with the fortune teller, a man came to tell the fortune - teller that the fortune-teller's house is burning and he should rush to rescue his belonging.
as a kid, my first question was, "if he could predict the future, how come he did not know his house was on fire?"
that's just it!
your friend's grandma may be trying to say:
"what you make of the future is yours to decide".
astrology is fun... it's great to talk with your friends about it...
but i must agree with your friend's grandma...
it could be a bad thing if you take it too seriously.
anything taken too seriously is bad for you.
use a little common sense and live a good life!

My mother says the same thing. The reason they say that is because if you get into it, astrology can be a force more powerful than God, people depend on it so much, almost like it becomes their God, and you know anything that opposes the REAL God is "the devil", right?
I personally don't think it has anything to do with the devil.

My grandma told me that astrologers will sit in a circle telling lies, and drinking blood from a skull. Then they ride around on a goat.
You believe whatever you want. Just remember that it is all bogus, like psychics, and communists.

I don't think it is bad at all. Many great prophets were praised in the Bible itself, saying that it is the gift of the holy spirit, so how can the "word of god" support and condemn something at the same time? That's a bit contradictory. Goes to show the authenticity of the Bible.
