I am curious to hear people's explanations of why they are, or are not, intelligent.

In otherwords...

Yes, I am intelligent, and I believe that because:

XXXXX

So, are you intelligent? Why? Do you have the confidence to stand up and defend your intelligence, or are you weak?

Thanks:)

Nobody is truely intelligent. It just appears so because others have different learning skills and techniques. If u think you are intelligent cuz you have straight A's , a fancy job or any other reasin then your wrong. Intelligence means that you are all around smart and know everything there is to know about everything. So it's impossible to be intelligent because today we are still learning more and more about new stuff. To me smart and intelligent are different. You can be smart or a genius yet not intelligent. Intelligence doesn't mean that your just smart in school or your work place. Like for instance some people are really bright but they can't even cook a frozen pizza right. No offense but if you were really truely intelligent then you wouldn't be asking a question now would you?!

I am intelligent, yet I am unintelligent at the very same time. This appears to be an oxymoron, although I assure you it is a paradox.

Intelligence is a rather subjective and relative term to be using. You cannot determine whether someone is or is not intelligent, but only compare to someone/something else.

Most people seem to be only considering their mental intellectual knowledge in these answers, but keep in mind there are other forms of intelligence, perhaps more important...emotional intelligence.

Bye!!!!!! =P

Oh my God I believe I am intelligent. I don't say this to brag at all! Alot of people see my intelligence and they actually are angered or offended by my intelligence. I use my intelligence to help people and to just help me to understand the world better. I am not better than anyone else, and I don't put myself above anyone else. I work very hard in my studies, I read many books, I write a lot of poetry, I try new things, I play an instrument, and many other things. My deal? I expand my mind, in different areas of life, I try really hard at things. There is really no way you can measure intelligence. You just have to expand it. Everyone has intelligence, and everyone has a brain. Everyone has intelligence in different areas as well, in some areas better, in other areas not so better. If you walk around saying your not intelligent and your stupid, pretty soon you'll believe it, and everyone else will too.

Yes. I am intelligent. For the simple reasons that I find your question which I have categorised into tiny cells of my brain claiming ''curiosity'', and I chose to answer it. It did not matter to me if iam or not, but I felt iam intelligent. I do not care or dont know (in that order) what intelligent means in your dictionary, i simply like to say "" I AM THEREFORE Iam''.....No one really stands up or defends intelligence. Intelligence is an adjective that best describes how your brain works. How far my brain works, is for the machines to decide. And it really wudnt bother me if the machines beeped and alarmed, saying i have -0 intelligence, which again is not the machines to decide, nor are u. Who are you ? I only look at you as one of the normal, humans, who realy are in search of intelligence..or who has no meaning for intelligence. Or do you ? Iam sure you dont, hence you go searching other people's brains, in pursuit of intelligence, and yet you dont find any...how pathetic you are....and you gave this very intelligent reason which iam sure you yourself cannot understand..or do u, perhaps iam not as intelligent as u..but hten please do explain...

Yes I am intelligent. I am opinionated wheras some people just arent bothered either way. If you ask me questions I think about them but some people dont care. Also I ask questions and am interested in the world around me. I realise that theres alot of things I dont know about the world. I have principals and beliefs which I stand up for.

i am not sure if ones ability to defend why they are intelligent is a necessity for being intelligent, a savant for example, or a poorly spoken mathematician or chess master, i think i am intelligent but i doubt i could sufficiently defend my statement under heavy scrutiny, simply because my linguistic or communication intelligence is weak as you put it... does not mean other areas are, so on average yes i think i am, but my only defense is simple statements such as, i am good at reasoning, and abstract thinking... i had to correct like 7 spelling mistakes before i posted this too.. so that needs some work, maybe proper sentence formation too heh.. but im lazy

Yes, I am intelligent, and I believe that because: although I am capable of following direction, and following well, I am also capable of original and creative thought. I have a very strong grasp of the English language and patterns in general, and I am therefore more than capable of explaining a point of view. I can and have made strong logical arguments that opponents in debate have found exceedingly difficult to defeat. I am able to concieve of and communicate abstact ideas and draw useful conclusions from these abstractions. I also have a very good memory and can draw upon my memory to apply past solutions of current problems effectively. All of the above are determined relative to my peers, either in direct competition with them or based on observations by them that have been communicated to me.

Just look at my screen name! I am not only intelligent, I'm amazingly intelligent! I attribute my intelligence to several factors: genetics, parents who embraced education, my formal education, a lot of reading on a lot of topics, a good memory for details, reading the dictionary and encyclopedias was a favorite childhood pastime, intellectually competitive siblings, and an ongoing love of learning. Also, being open minded hasn't hurt either. Neither has the fact that I also have common sense and that is not so very common these days.

Yes, I am intelligent, and I believe that because:

I'm confident.

I have straight A's.

I reach for the stars, where most dont reach.

I set goals constantly and work up to them.

I learn from every mistake and every day just gets brighter and brighter.

I am extremely wise and not alot of young people posess that ability.

I'm just intelligent enough to know:

to keep taking community college courses
to stay away from the "bad" people around here
to get out of this hot climate for the summer
to vote
