I was wondering if the injection pill which is supposed to be effective three years, is an option for teenagers? I have heard the horror stories about it not being foolproof and I think for teens simply having sex is as bad an idea as the getting pregnant but considering a lot of them are going to be doing it regardless, could they not get the injection at 13 and again at 16, maybe up to 21? I know it's again leaving the hormonal teenage boys scot-free but having seen yet another documentary about a fifteen year old bored already with her eight week old son and no qualifications whatsoever made me think. At least by 21 their minds would be maturer and the decision to have a baby not taken so lightly?

according to the NHS website the injection 'pill' is 99% effective, it does not say at what age it can be administered but i would think that your gp will advise you and your daughter as to what is the way to go.
Glad to see a parent that is thinking ahead for a change!

I agree in theory with you, however, there are many problems with this. As something like the injection and the pill are hormones. Giving continuous amounts of hormones to teenage girls that are already have hormonal fluctuations can upset the already precocious balance. Many girls would feel that being protected from pregnancy would give the a i can have sex with anyone i want card and forget that they should still be using a condom. Then the cases of teen pregnancy would go down, but teen stds would go up.
I think that condoms should be free and easily available at schools and the pill and shots should be offered with doctors care through the schools.

The pill or the injection pill may prove effective against pregnancy, but will offer no protection against STDs, which are increasing in incidence among teenagers.

Condoms are the best protection against this, or abstinence - a long forgotten concept we used to teach teens...

Promiscuity among teenage girls also hugely increases their risk of developing cervical cancer.

Good idea but you are refering to implants.

The injection only lasts 3 months, the implants years.

However thigs like antibiotics and other drugs ie st johns worth can interfere with it.

Condoms should still be used.

Kids will have sex, its part of growing up and affection and being alone hurts

Theres the rod that goes in your upper arm and lasts for 5yrs,i'm not sure if there is one out for more years than that.
It was originally used on wayward girls in the US many years ago,but found its way onto the market.
This would be good as the only way to stop the use of it before its term is to have it surgically removed.

With 2 amazing daughters myself, i'm certainly no longer for teen being pregnant. yet, some thing relatively caught out for me interior the object and it grow to be this: "those days, ask some women why they choose a toddler so badly and that they're going to say vaguely: "Oh, i decide to fulfill myself." That line extraordinary there tells me that they are lacking in self-worth. That extraordinary there tells me that they've not got stability, duty, and love of their lives. i do no longer think of the answer lies in quickly sterilizing young women. i think of it lies in parenting. we choose greater mothers and dads that refuse to think of of divorce like they're changing their decrease than clothing, spend greater time with their little ones and are certainly attracted to their practise, and we choose sturdy father figures who do no longer in basic terms deliver a paycheck each month and be performed with it. i in my opinion think of the final public of young women that decide to get pregnant do it through fact they're lacking some thing. they do no longer sense love, help, have a severe self-worth, appreciate for themselves, etc. i think of you will locate it relatively is actual besides. maximum of those women are coming from a dysfunctional family individuals. restoration the family individuals, restoration the difficulty. that's my opinion in any case, desire it helped some. Have an outstanding day! :)
