Some interesting answers for an interesting question.

Yes, I do, and I always have done, because I've always wanted to know why and how we are here, and the Big Bang theory never really cut it for me as a kid. God seemed more believable to me personally.

I can't explain why I do though, the same as I wouldn't expect an explanation as to why someone doesn't.

The way I feel is that it's nice to have something to believe in, a faith that can carry you through the hardest, most traumatic times in your life. Not as a crutch in life, but as something to keep you positive.

Having said that, I don't think everybody needs that faith in something. Although I bet there are plenty who have more than they would admit ;)

What I do dislike about religion of any sort is when people either ram it down your throat, knocking on doors or telling you everything in life is Gods will. I also dislike people using it as an excuse to commit crime and feel hatred. That's not real religion, of any kind.

I go to a Catholic church, but I also have my own fundamental beliefs and nothing can change or sway those, and that is what is important in faith.

Faith is an entirely different entity to belief. You can believe in something but not have faith in it (like a government), or you can have faith in something, but not believe it (perhaps like God). To have both can actually be difficult sometimes.

If you believe in God then very often it can be hard to have faith!

I don't believe that we have every part of our lives mapped out. I believe we have a "fate", for want of a better word, that we are here to help others and make their lives more pleasurable. The difference between that and a full on belief in Fate is that I think you can choose to be good or bad.

God gave us a conscience and freedom of choice. If we choose to go down the bad path then there is nothing He/She can do about that. He/She does not have ultimate control over every decision we make, He/She just gives us guidance. It's up to us if we ignore it!

I also feel that whether you believe in a male God, female God, many Gods or just Mother Nature, it is all the same in the end and we should all respect that :)

Before posting this answer it was nice to see that so far the previous ones were not abusive to the questioner. This can be a touchy subject!

ps, what raj j says reminds me of what my partner (a devout Catholic) says, if you're not sure you might as well believe. If you do and you're wrong, you'll never know, if you do and you're right you'll be glad, lol!

I believe in God in a sense. I was raised Catholic, but after giving some thought, I gained an alternative vision of religion.

I believe that there is an overwhelming, continuous, omnipresent energy in the universe, that is considered to be "God." Do I think there's a huge man resembling pictures of Zeus in the clouds determining every small thing in our lives? Nope. Do I believe there's something, some reason people refuse to give up and let society go to hell, something that has a tendency to pull out circumstances we've never thought possible, let alone plausible? Yes.

I'll put it this way, You won't meet me in Hell, and I hope you all that answered no you do not believe in God have fun burning in Hell with the devil. God is real. How else do you believe you got here??? What you believe the Charles Darwin theory?? We evolved from apes? That is total crap. And one of the questions above said that God wouldn't let the world go to the pot. If you read the Bible you would know, we are living in a modern age Babylon. The end times are coming. Noah built the arc and surivied. Then it was the flood, the Bible said that this time it will be a great fire. All that is lost and not a follower of God will burn with the Devil. I am happy to say that I won't be one of them, I am a believer in God, God loves me and He loves you to. Best thing is no matter what you say about Him, He will always love you. It isn't to late to change your mind.

I cannot answer you. I have no real belief in God, but I do not passionately disbelief either. I think that if there is a God, I cannot have a concept of it. God must relate to us as we do to bacteria. A single bacterium cannot have a concept of us, other than one it made up itself, that is totally inadequate.

I do not whish to believe in a total inadequate concept people made up. So I do not follow a religion. I do not believe in the perceptions of hell or heaven, as I think that also these concepts, if real at all, will defy our level of thinking and indeed believing. I think if we would meet God we won’t even be able to recognise it, as we can simply not grasp it.

So I would like to ask: define God, define belief in, and only then can I really answer you.

It's called a Belief. If you beleive in it, it's there. If you don't, then there isn't. My personal opinion, I think a god (in any culture) is made up by people to get something for them to do (pray). God is probably made up for people to be more calm and patient. That is practiced through praying and singing. Since there is no evidence that there is a god, I don't beleive it's true. People say that god is real because in Vatican city, and Islam (i think) they say there's evidence of him being born there and stuff. But listen to this. If god is really real, and the priests in the churches are helping him out to bring the faith around the world, then why the hell are they asking us to donate to them? Why take money from us when god is suppose to help us? I think it's a bunch of crap and there isn't anything to beleive in. But really, Catholicism/Christianity is going into the political side of things. They are holding parades and strikes. Like what the hell? Probably they're patriotic to their faith and want us ALL to be christian/catholic. And what has god done for us anyways? Give life to us? Like what the hell (I know i've been saying it a lot but w/e)!? Why have blacks, asians, red (natives) and whites? Why not all whites since god is? God hasn't given us anything besides a bunch of problems the people who beleive in him bring up. Now..if you say Jesus sacrificed himself to do something for us, then what do you call the emo's and cannibals? They cut themselves..why don't they get to be praised? People suicide, so what? Do they get to be gods too and get praised? No, they don't, and instead people find this to be a shame to lose a good person (which I think so) and throw em in a hole and forget about them. So what makes jesus and god so special? God isn't even human as they say. So like what the hell (>:D). My friend told me we're all cousins (23rd). And I was like screw off, cause you're not my cousin. You can see the difference in religion, skin colour, looks. How could I be a cousin of his if I'm not even beleiving in God? So seriously, think it through and talk to your parents about this. Maybe you should rethink your beleifs and just move on, instead of going through something that would just not even help you. This whole answer is in my personal opinion and if any of you find this offending then i'm sorry, because it's the way I am and the way I think. Sorry if I offended any of you.

Yes ! I believe in god because i have felt the presence the way i looked and heard and felt him in my own form.
Belive in "feeling is believing" and not "seeing is believing" Because You will neither see god nor believe him.

Feel Him and Realise Him In your Own Form.

Yes, I believe in the Christian God because people pray about my spiritual gifts, and three people prayed the same thing. When people have prayed about me and God, they have said that I was close to God, and I doubt they all decided to come together and conspire.
