When you do a ball change, you place one foot in the back and push off the ball of that foot back to the other foot in front. For example: put you right foot behind, push off the ball of that foot and stand on the left foot. It involves 2 steps going back, front.

As for the "jump straddle turn", are you asking how to do a jump, how to do a straddle and how to do a turn? Or are you asking about a single step that your teacher called jump straddle turn? That may be referring to a straddle jump with a turn after it, or a jump that turns in the air....if you could give more of an explanation on that one I may be able to help further.

A lot of dancers use different terminology so I am not sure if this is what your talking about but I think it is. Start in a wide second position and a deep plie. Then you want to use your head to spot front (keep your eyes on one spot at all times and whip your head around sharply as you turn). Push off the floor using your plie extending your legs straight underneth you and make a full rotaion. It is important to have a strong spot and to use the balls of your feet to push into the ground and extend through the tips of your toes to come up.
