The original band was Steppenwolf. It has been released by a number of other bands, INXS, Blue Oyster Cult, Ozzy Osbourne with Miss Piggy, etc., but apparently not AC/DC.
The song, Born to be Wild, was featured in an old 60s movie, Easy Rider, about a couple of motorcycle riders, starring Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper. It also had a small role for Jack Nicholson, but his character was killed off very shortly after he first appeared in the movie.
