Doctor and get a C-section??
After putting my weight gain and all he said that my baby could very well weigh 10lbs. and he said that i'm too small to give natural birth and it could lead to complications. So i'm looking for the opinion of mothers who have already given birth.

Your doctor is worried about you and the child. If the baby is to big it can be a problem. Shoulder dystocia could happen. I would listen to him. CSections are so routine now that you are out of the hospital in 2 days. Not to mention you get to skip the labor pains. Good luck.

I wouldn't.
A friend of mine had a late ultrasound and they said the baby was 10.5 pounds. She freaked out and let them induce her, and after a long, painful labor (I think they started on Friday and he was finally born early Monday morning) he weighed 6.5 pounds!!!
My grandmother was about 5' 4" and medium build, and she gave birth vaginally to my uncle who weighed 12 lb. 2 oz.
I would DEFINITELY get a second opinion before consenting to a c-section for this reason. Your body can do amazing things.
There's a very good book called "The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth" by Henci Goer. Get yourself a copy and read up on how the interventions will affect you and your baby.

some people honestly have small birth canals for large babies. my mother in law was determined to have a natural birth with both of her sons and was in labor for 8 hours and 11 hours with them, respectively before they had no choice but to do a c-section because the babies simply could not fit out. at that point youre going through the pain of both. it seems like a good idea to listen to your doc...but if youre not sure go see another doc. let them examine you and see if they agree. some docs do tend to push one method of birthing more than another so if you feel that that is the case you could always get a second opinion but do whats easiest for you and your baby.

It doesn't matter how small you are, your hips will widen and it's all in how big your baby is. Just because you gained weight doesn't mean the baby is it. I had a doc tell me with my first that she was going to be over 8lbs... she was 6'2. They really just like the c because it's easier for them. Try it natural and you can always have a c if need be. A midwife might be another option, they are less clinical in their suggestions. Nobody is too small for natuarl childbirth. My mom who is 5'1 and weighed 120 lbs 9 mos pregnant gave birth to my brother whom was 11lbs 3 oz... no stiches or tears... Doctors generally don't give you all the info.

You really should trust your dr. has your and your baby's best interests at heart. I know it's disappointing to have to get a c-section, but if your baby would be in danger otherwise, it may be best.
Gee, I had to be induced because the dr. thought my baby was over 8 lbs and getting big past my due date. Turned out after 8 hours of being in labour I had to have an emergency c-section done because the cord was wrapped around baby's neck twice (all was ok, though). So, better to go in for a planned one.

Same thing happened to my friend just 4 days ago. They were going to schedule her c-section in about a week (she was 37 weeks along), and her water broke in the middle of the night. So she ended up having her c-section right away. Her baby was 9lbs 15oz, 22 inces long.
I'd listed to your doc.

If your doctor reccommends it you should go through with it. Or you could even get a second opinion from another OB/GYN. I'm sure he wouldn't tell you that information if it wasn't the best thing for you. Good Luck!!

You should try to give birth naturally first, if that is what you want. C-Sections are ALWAYS an option if there are complications, so you don't have to worry about "missing out" on getting one.

definitely, you need to have a c-section. too many risks can result from trying to have the child the natural way. hope this helps. good luck.

If the doctor recommends it, then do it. He knows a lot more than we do, especially about your specific situation.
