i just found out that i have herpes, and i would still like to have a baby. is there anyone out there that has done this with success? Did you have to have a C-section? Did your baby get herpes?

Most women with herpes do not transfer the virus to their infants. The fact that you know you have herpes alone increases your chances of not passing it on because you can tell your doctors. Also, most women can safely have the baby vaginally without any complications. The source listed below has more details.

You can have a normal pregnancy and birth as long as you don't have an active herpes outbreak at the time you go into labor. Many doctors will want to do a c-section for the baby's protection. Talk to several doctors before deciding on any one.

I have had 2 children, one vaginally and one c-section and never passed on the virus. I had a zoster when delivering my son by c-section. Fortunately it was on my hip. If, however, it is passed you your child, they are able to treat the baby with IV zovirax and it is very successful and alot of the time there is no recurrence. Good health.
