i'd say "unforgettable" makes them only approximately a cliche' status. no longer inevitably sturdy or undesirable, yet all people has heard them. i'd say: Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin Smoke on the Water - by ability of Deep purple purple Haze - Jimi Hendrix candy infant 'O' Mine - weapons and Roses. Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin is a pretty riff...my step-dad plays guitar and plays that well. Also, I like Patience by Guns 'n' Roses...and Night Moves by Bob Segar has a good acoustic riff.
