First of all, I want to thank everyone for their advice when I posted some questions about my dog coming down with parvo. It's been emotionally hard (and expensive) but it's looking like he's going to make it. He's been in the hospital for 4 days now, and he's finally drinking water on his own (and keeping it down). He should be coming home with me tomorrow.
My newest question is, what now? Is my dog going to catch parvo again from being back in my home? How long before he can come into contact with another dog? He's very young, about 6-8 weeks (they can't tell b/c hes so small b/c of the parvo) and has prob not been vaccinated (just came from the pound less than a week ago). They cant vaccinate him until he's fully recovered so should I keep him exclusively in my home so that he can't catch another disease like distemper or the corona virus? Help! I have no idea what to do!

"Please" keep him away from all animals! Yes, he can turn right around and get parvo again. He got it from another animal in the first place. When my dog was a puppy, she had just had her parvo shot, touched noses with a dog from down the street that had parvo, and poof! Just like that, she got it. She almost died from it. I stayed home from work to care for her, or she wouldn't have made it. A parvo shot does not guarantee that they won't get parvo, only that their chances of survival are much better, okay? There is no law that says you have to have your dog around other dogs. But I definitly would wait till your dog has had a parvo shot, before allowing him to get around other dogs at all.
Some people may not even know their dog has parvo yet, and all you have to do, is take your dog for a walk, and if his nose touches the ground where that other dog was, he will more than likely get the desease. Yeah, it sucks! But that's how it is. I live in Las Vegas, and an animal shelter here just had to uthinize one thousand dogs that had severe cases of parvo and distemper. It was so sad. And 2500 animals in this past year! So please, be careful with your little boy puppy, okay? When he comes home, make sure he gets lots of liquid. Good luck to you both.

I would say keep him in if possible! For one thing, he will be weak and needs the extra attention. But as for re-catching parve, it can happen, but most likely he is on enough medication that he won't. Vaccinate him ASAP!!! I know you can't til he's recovered, but as soon as you can, DO IT. I'm suprised they let him go from the pound without vaccinating him. Before he comes home, clean EVERY surface he touched with strong bleach based cleaner. There is a product for cleaning after parvo to kill the virus, you might want to check with Petsmart to see if they carry it. I ordered it from a magazine one time, but I don't remember what it's called. Also, don't forget, parvovirus can live up to a year on surfaces that it has been in contact with. Humans can carry it from their animal to another animal. Be careful! This is a very bad disease. Good Luck and I am so glad to hear he is doing well :)

I'm so sorry to hear about your puppy having Parvo, but glad to hear that he's going to be ok! The best advise is to ask your vet any and all questions that you may have concerning after-care. I hope all goes well and he has a full recovery. Good luck!

Parvo, from what I've heard about it, isn't anything to play around with. Before you bring him home, be sure to share your concerns with the vet and ask for his recommendations. Keeping him strictly inside and away from other animals would be my first thought.

Dogs act and feel a lot like small children. They eat things like wrappers, they chew on leftover foods on the floor, and occasionaly stick things in their mouth. My best bet would be to disenfect most things in your house and get him newer toys, trashing the old ones.
