It will slowly become less of an issue as people encounter it more and more but as far as complete acceptance, complete acceptance is a utopia that will never come as long as the world is hooked on religious dogma (and this is unlikely to change). Unlike race, there is no stigma in hating gay people because after all, according to many "good books" ie Koran, Bible, etc God hates Gays and thats not something the can be construed.

It certainly will...but your comment about African Americans says a lot....the discrimination is still there albeit under the surface. True you could end up in court for saying it....but I still believe society has a long way to go in accepting it...and maybe a lot of people are just afraid to say it....Same thing with GLBT...it'll take a lot longer for attitudes to really change..although the laws will undoubtedly change first.

i dont think it will ever be COMPLETELY accepted.
there will always be some homophobes, just as there are still some racists even though as a whole society is a lot less racist than in the past.
but i definitely think that over time homosexuality will become far more accepted.
i agree, we have made enormous strides in gay rights over the last 10, 20, 30 years, and i think as today's young generations become adults and today's old people die off, we will find it much more accepting.

It will be a long, long time, if ever.
Yes, racism is said to be bad in our society, but we all know it still happens. Racism is systemic - it's built into our society, and it beats just under the surface. It hasn't been eradicated (there are still chapters of the KKK, after all) and may never will be. There are legal provisions put in place to counteract discrimination, but it's hard to prove - we don't have racial equality yet.
The same goes for homophobia - it's started to be tolerated less, and gain more legal ground as far as equal rights, but it'll still be around for a long time. The "modern" age won't bring us to acceptance, society is too diverse to ever fully accept anything. We still don't pay women the same wage as men, we haven't eradicated racism, and we still face issues of homophobia.
Although we're making progress, certainly. But I doubt it'll ever be fully gone.

Interesting question. Sadly, I doubt it.
Human nature alone ensures that. No matter where you go, you will always find someone who thinks the current situation is unnacceptable. I have been there myself, and I realize that I can't be happy with everything.
Of course, I am honest enough to admit it.

unfortunately the answer would be no. how can homosexuality ever be completely accepted if there is still prejudice with other races?
we are not living in an ideal world.

oh i hope so
i think it won't be for another 50-100 years, but someday...
i think it will be kind of like racial integration.
it's "completely accepted" but there are still a few small factions against it.
but they're basically looked down upon by other people now, so there's still hope

No, but I don't think anything will ever be completely accepted.
I simply look forward to seeing the bigots and haters put in the position that they enjoy attempting to put others in, situations where they have to hide their prejudice and hostility, and I'd have no sympathy for them.

I hope so because I have grown as a human and have accepted it, and I would hope that all of these so-called "christians" do too because they will sure end up in hell if they don't.
