I'am an indian male and i totally denounce the dowry system it has led to the death and suffering of so many innccent lives and more are to follow in ever increasing numbers.

Rather than teach the modern indian woman how to use the Anti dowry laws and the domestic violence laws to curb and eliminate this socail evil the sick politicians in my country with so called feministas have given them a legal sanction to to social terrorism.

A statement made by the Supreme Court of India and if you dont beleive me get it checked yourself.

Social evils can only be combated with the battle of hearts and minds not by the abuse and misuse of these laws which has started and is increasing at an alarming rate. These laws are now abused by educated modern women in towns for reasons totally not meant to be used.

And the real poor indain woman in villages gets burnt in ever increasing numbers.

Oh god if there is any such thing why have you forsken the worlds oldest civillization?

The Indian male is in the world as per official survey the most fauthful and monogamous being but now i think it woyld be better to go to prostitutes atleast there you will not have the scare of 498 A and these sick laws.

Well, Islamically speaking, dowry is a gift given from the husband's side of the family to the BRIDE. The gift can be money, jewlery, clothes, or whatever else the girl may desire, but the best thing about is that it belongs to her ONLY and she's not compelled to share it with anyone else.
So, I don't know what you mean if dowry is a girl's share in her parents' property wealth; her parents have nothing to do with her dowry, and it belongs to her solely.

Dowry is a name given and promoted by the society. In the earlier days a gift was given to the daughter so that she can set up a family. This created greed and prompted the gooms parents to demand things which was later projected as dowry We have in our midst many who are willing to share the property of their parents. But as dowry it has a different meaning. It becomes a demand. Both are different. Think about it.

Your suggestion could be quite possibly right. We have no idea why our ancesters imposed those ethics in those days. Or maybe it was a tradition to make sure that their daughter's family is in a good financial condition?

Whatever it was, we gotta accpet that times have changed. These days it's the grooms side has to take care of the brides liabilities, no matter how expensive they are. Bride's parents cannot afford to spend their fortune on their daughter. They gotta take care of their own future too. In those early days things were different. The dowry system has been wrongly manipulated, and today it's a source of income to most of the groom sides. It's a kind of exploitation of the bride's family...

:-)

come on, from movies to the articles in the papers, (reality or make-believe), dowry has always been an act of 'paying the groom side for accepting the bride in marriage', i mean even if the either side of the family (bride / groom) does it for a practical reason, like for initial financial stability and all, on face value alone, it will seem like degrading marriage into a trade of somesort, "you take my daughter and you get this house and this red maruti zen...", it'll be kinda interesting if the situation was the other way round, where the grooms side is expected to raise up the dough, wonder how the reaction would be for that....

My answer is not any to the above question. in the worst case seventy 5 p.c. of marriages would be not on time and relax 25 p.c. of marriages woul ensue as according to time. The refusing of girls mothers and fathers to pay dowry could proceed for some years and an prolonged time, then in easy terms exchange might certainly come and the 25 p.c. determine might upward push to a hundred%.

You are acting as if the money or jewelry is controlled by the woman. It is NOT. Its the inlaws who have their grasping and greedy hands out trying to get that money, so how on earth do you pressume that this will help the couple? Also if we are talking about india, then how do explain the long lists of items inlaws demand of the brides father? How will the items on those lists go to benefit his daughter in her marriage? The whole dowlry system is corrupt and disgusting.

In Hinduism, daughters have no right of inheritence succession in parents' properties, only the sons have. Hence girls' parents give them while marrying. Many women are killed burtally or burnt alive every day in India for failure to fulfill their inlaws' further demands.
In Islam, the boy has to give dowry (Maher) to wife and she does not give anything to him.

The Dowry is a wife's marriage gift that the potential husband gives the wife on their wedding night. It doesn't have anything to do with her family's wealth.

Really, then I guess it would be better if was given to the GIRL. How come the girls future family as SO willing to ask for it? Because they want it. I don't want my dads wealth, I'll earn it. My parents are alive and so the money belongs to them.
