In biology, meiosis, is the process that allows one diploid cell to divide in a special way to generate haploid cells in eukaryotes. The word "meiosis" comes from the Greek meioun, meaning "to make smaller," since it results in a reduction in chromosome number.
Whereas, Mitosis is the process by which a cell separates its duplicated genome into two identical halves. It is generally followed immediately by cytokinesis which divides the cytoplasm and cell membrane. This results in two identical daughter cells with a roughly equal distribution of organelles and other cellular components.

Meiosis is cell division within the sex cells . Mitosis is cell division in all other cells such as skin , muscle, organs , bones etc.
Meiosis is known as a haploid division because from one cell four are produced . The mother cell goes through the process of division in just the same manner as mitotic division prophase, anaphase, telophase ,and metaphase but once the two daughter cells are produced these also undergo the process of division. So having started with one cell four cells are produced Mother cell - 2 daughter cells - each daughter cell divdes - Four new cells. This is the completion of the process of Meiosis
Mitosis is the replication of new cells from the Mother cell producing two daughter cells going through prophase ,anaphase ,telophase, and metaphase here the process ends

What is mitosis? Replication of DNA, and then separation of the copies so that the 2 "daughter" cells are genetically identical to each other and to the parent cell.
What is meiosis? part of the process of gamete formation, consisting of chromosome conjugation and two cell divisions, in the course of which the diploid chromosome number becomes reduced to the haploid
