How do you know if she filed for separation?

You will be served with papers like anything else which you must signed, dated and returned. If you're easy to contact, but haven't received documents to sign.............SHE HASN'T FILED ANYTHING. Nothing is finalized or filed in government records until you be first notified of this occurrence.

It's not over yet. Good luck.

If she files any legal proceeding, be it divorce or legal separation, it must be filed in the county in which you reside and you must be served with the papers (either by personal service or by mail). Some counties have that info. online -- in Sacramento County (where I'm at), it's under Municipal and Superior Court of Sacramento and then you click on Online Services and then go to Court Cases and there's a drop down (I believe) with various depts. --- criminal, civil, small claims, etc. -- you click on Family and then search by your name. If she's filed it will be there.

If its over, then don't just sit there wondering. Go file for a divorce yourself. If you think there is a chance you can work things out, then give her time to her self. She will come around sooner or later. Only you know how bad the split was.

You can check with the court in the county you live in. If she has moved to a different state or county you may want to check there too. Once anything is filed in court it is public record. If she did file anything you should be served with papers either certified mail or by sherrif.
