If we are just bodys with combination of different habbits,(from your own experience right here, right now, not from the books you have read, not from what you think or belive you are,but from what you mean when you say 'I') how do we know that we are our bodys? - Because WE feel the body, WE see and WE hear, WE even hear that unending flow of thoghts that never stops?
But who is that 'I' that experiences all those things, the body cant feel the body, ears can't hear by themselves, eyes can't see for themselves , someone or something has to hear all the thoughts that are being heard, something is missing, don't you think?
We as we know our selves is product of a society, we have been told who we are , we've been told what is good and what is bad,
but why, why do we take all those things for granted?
Who AM I ? Do I even want to know, do YOU? IS that why I am here for to search?

You better crack the windows in your bedroom before your mom comes home and smells what you've been smoking and grounds you for a month.

You are actually broaching a few different kinds of who am I questions from several different disciplines and philosophical angles. The observer exists in that something is there observing and recording your experiences. We can't locate it but it is there, otherwise you would not ask the questions. As for the knowing ourselves as a product of culture, that is Sociology. It is called social locations and is the sum of the definitions of the various roles you play in life, Son, Brother, friend, student, amateur philosopher. Who you are won't be decided until you are gone because that will be a fluid definition until the day you stop sucking air. You obviously want to know or you wouldn't ask. As for why you are here, I believe it is to learn.

you are a 'micro-creation' from within the 'macro-creator'- and in a third dimensional plane you 'can sense or feel your existence
because of the physics effects that contains this dimension, here is when your search for the purpose ,intention and reason of your existence, and the awakening of 'your real self' ,questioning
and at the same time experiencing-for the "macro-creator"- the reality you perceive in this dimension but at the same 'present day' searching for the whole truth, kind of dual thinking,uh?

Read the Upanisadas. They address this question. Ultimately, the "I" is not your body but your soul. And your soul is part of God.

Your brain registers the impulses you receive from your senses. We are made of a bunch of chemical and electrical impulses and the information is stored in your memory.

Don't over think all of this; you are on the verge of a meltdown.
