My ipod nano says that it is a 1GB and will hold 240 songs. When I add up to about 40 songs, it says that there is not enough space and that it cannot import all the songs requested. Why is this so? Is there a way to fix it? Please help!

(please note: It has nothing to do with my computer space, its all Itunes, AND I only have like 7 pictures on it)

When it says 240 songs its talking about the space they are taking up. So if your uploading 40songs which are really long and large files they will fill it up quickly.
But I have had a similar problem in the past - I have a 40gb ipod that was meant to be able to hold up to 20,000 songs and I couldn't load more than 3000 on their. Take the i-pod back to the store, explain the issue and have them check out its Hard Drive, there might be problems with that as that is what was wrong with mine. If its under warranty they will replace the i-pod is there is something technically wrong with it like that.

hi rena.

it's the photos that are messing things up for you. it can hold 240 songs (based on an average of around 3 minutes per song) and that's if you have NOTHING else on your ipod.

photos are space hogs... both on computers and definitely on ipods. and if the resolution of the photos (dpi's) is high and the original size of the photos are large, that'll suck up tons of space.

if you want more songs, i would suggest removing the photos, and resize the ones you wish to keep in photoshop or some other programme. then reload them into your ipod and see if it makes a difference.

if that doesn't free up enough space for you, you might wish to either upgrade to a larger gb ipod (they go up to 40gb now!) or be forced to choose between songs or photos. 1gb is alot, but it fills up fast on an ipod!

cheers!

If the songs are really long they take up more space, also try taking off the pictures, they take up a lot of space. If none of that works, I would take it back to the store.

how long are the songs? I would take the pics off and see if that helps.

My 14 year old son wants to legally change his name from Karl to "Cash-Money God". I don't understand the meaning behind it, we are well off but still. I understand why, I changed my name a few years ago to Super-King but thats awesome and bada s s. Should I let him do as he wants?
