Yes they do but some of the ps1 games require a special chip to play them in the ps2 console

that's the only ingredient that may no longer backwards nicely matched. A PS1 interest can only shop on a PS1 memory card, whether the interest is being performed on a PS2. you ought to have the flexibility to get a PS1 catridge in a interest save or an information superhighway shop.

Yes, ps1 games work in a ps2 system, but it isn't going to work if you try it the opposite way around.

Yup.. sure do. You can also play PS1 games on your PC if you have an emulator.
(Why would anybody have ever bought a PS2 if you could play PS2 games in a PS1??)
