A civil partner is gay or lesbian person who has gone through a Civil Partnership ceremony to become legally 'married' to their same-sex partner.
In the UK (where i am) Civil Partnership is exactly the same as marriage in every way, it just has a different name.

I believe its the same as traditional marriage, but without the religious aspect...Jim
