I mean... It's not like terrorists are gonna take over iraq or anything...
And if they did...
So what?!
It's not like Al-Qaeda wants the complete destruction of America.

No we should not leave "The Middle East" alone today.

I'm concerned that many people who "support the President" assume that those who recognize the President's failures believe that we should get out of Iraq immediately.

Not the case. Those of us who think freely argue that we need a debate about what the strategy in Iraq will actually be.

Republicans, with all of their soap-boxing, have yet to offer a clear strategy for Iraq. We've been begging them to do this for many years.

Democrats, with all of their whining (note - most Democrats [I refer to average citizens] stupidly supported the President), have yet to offer a strategy yet either. Nor have they really engaged in a debate about what the strategy will be.

I hate generalizations, but I will generalize here.

All good, free-thinking, intelligent Americans demand a debate about what the "Middle East" strategy should be.

All idiots, regardless of political persuasion, simplify the debate:

1) We should be there
2) We should not be there

The bottom line is we are not leaving tomorrow...

BUT WHAT WILL OUR STRATEGY BE FOR TOMORROW?

What will success look like?

What has to happen for us to start bringing down troop levels?

No time-tables, just solid metrics that can be used to judge our success.

Truthfully we are there for a purpose, and that purpose is to finish the job we began. You are misinformed about Al-Qaeda. They do want the destruction of America and Israel.

Take a look at this interview on CN8 in New Jersey on their AM morning program. They interviewed 3 former terrorist, who are now tolerant and have turned against the teachings of AL Qaeda. It was quite the education for me, as I am sure it will be for you. If you feel that is worthy of others seeing who are not informed or do not have access to such interviews, please feel free to forward it on to them.

The terrorists are trying to take over Iraq, because they do not want a democracy...but the US forces are helping the government establish just that.

yes. What happens in Irak or Iran is not of our business. Also what Al-Qaeda wants is that America goes away from there so if we leave them alone they will not attack us.

yes. America is just taking its turn at creating chaos in the ME,britain and france had their turns, following the ottoman empire. to be fair we we do need some interaction with the countries of the ME,not uninvited invasion without good cause though.

You said

"It's not like Al-Qaeda wants the complete destruction of America."

That has got to be one of the dumbest things I have seen in a LONG LONG time.

Are you living in a cave or something?

I hate to break it to you but uh....

Yes... They DO want YOU dead.

Take it personally!

According to THEM.... YOU are an "Infidel" (as are we all here in America according to them) and should be killed. They are commanded by their Koran(Islamic bible) to kill us.

Any good American should take a liiittttlleee offense to that.

O I L is the only reason we give a darn about them. If we were to become self sufficient for our energy needs we could let them live in the 14th Century as they desire.

They don't want us there. To them we are infidels on their sacred land.

Put yourself in their shoes. If some other country was trying to take your culture and your country from you for a natural resource they want to steal or get cheaply from you wouldn't you fight back? Well, that is how they see it.

yep. When we pull out we need to abandon support for Israel and our problem with Al- Queda will evaporate because they will be able to bomb their real target.
