Because some people lack basic manners! Did you know that there is a sensible origin to men being the ones to put the seat down? It dates from the times when women did all the childcare and cooking(last week then) The idea was for us not to touch the toilet seat, thus making it easier to avoid nasty germs that we could pass on to the kids or through cooking! So there you go guys, unless you want diphtheria, put the seat down!

why do women never put toilet seats back up? It's equally annoying to men to have to reach down... The best solution is to have two separate toilets. Chivalry is clearly dead haha

Because women never leave the seat up for men to use.

I think some men on these answers are forgetting that there is a seat and a lid, and closing it stops the unsightly splash they have left up the back.

Here's the deal. We men have to bend over and lift it up - going against the laws of gravity. We do this only because women whine about our aim. So fine! All a woman has to do is flick the seat with her finger, and gravity does the rest. Tell you what, buy one of these, and problem solved:

I do all the time.
However, I could ask why women don't put the toilet seat up when they're done.

because they forget like i forget to make him breakfast in the morning when i am up an hour before him. its something that has to become a habit. i am use to cooking for myself. i have to make it a habit to cook for two in the morning even if i dont see him up and walking about. let him know it bothers you and ask him to make it a habit like my guy did. now i wake him up with breakfast. and he puts all the lids down on the toilet like i do, give a little take a little.

You know, I dont understand that either. Ive taught my son that ever since he was big enough to understand and hes real good about it. BUT, his friends arnt. When they are here, that toilet seat is always up when I go in there. I think if theyre taught, theyre good about it, but if not, they will never learn.*

simple rule. if the house has more men than women, the loo seat stays up. if more women than men then it should stay down.
