It seems that entertainers or well known people reach the height of success, then they self destruct with drugs, bad relationships, dysfunctional behavior, or criminal activities. Yet, the common person keeps trying to achieve the remarkable success and cannot. Why can't entertainers or famous people see that they have everything and a much better life than 99% of us.

What a great question! Isn't it pathetic that these amazing gifted people come into our world with untarnished hearts/minds and then the world of entertainment takes over.

These folks had the same hopes and dreams of every kid and then they are put under the pressure of this publicity machine that takes them from real and turns them into spent. Can you imagine from the time you wake until you fall into your drug induced stupor at night, you are told to do this, wear that, take this, say that, and then you get to be spied on 24/7..you can never do anything again, NEVER without having people following you....creepy, yes? Then everything you think or don't think, say or don't say, do or don't do is in the headlines and how do you fight that?

Anna Nicole especially breaks my heart; she started out as a country kid who got pregnant, she did the best she could to make a living for her and her son; then you hear the rest of her story and see her go down hill because the people who proclaimed they loved her, destroyed her. When she needed a mom to hold her, help her cry and grieve for her beloved son, no one was there; when others were having family time on holidays, her world was comprised of a freak show and little by little, the little girl from the country was completely gone with no trace of her sweetness to be found.

This world has lost its ability to love for the sake of love without holding out its hand to take.

Successful people aren't destructive! If a person is self destructive then they aren't successful, unless that was their goal.

Famous people are no more likely to be self destructive then non famous people. The only difference is the exposure celebrities receive.

As far as celebrities having a better life than 99% of us, I think you need some new friends if that's how they feel. I personally don't think my life is any less better because I don't have millions of dollars and paparazzi treating me like a runway model 24/7.

They self destruct because, contrary to popular belief, money and fame don't necessarily equal happiness (at least that's what I think). I think they reach these heights of popularity and find out it's not all that great, that all these people around you just love you for what they can get, that the media will rip you apart day in and day out, that most stars they thought were cool are just a bunch of fake jerks who are as miserable as everyone else. Yeah, they seem to have a better life, but I bet if we had one week of what those people go through, 99% of us would want our old lives back. Money and fame are just NOT the keys to happiness.

Oh what a tangled web they weave!

That's what happens when you live a life of "gluttony".

There's a reason they are called the "Seven deadly sins".

There's a reason it's called the "simple life" and why the best things in life are FREE too.

I'm not going to drag religion into it but hey, the choices you make come back to you.

The further away you get from yourself...the more you rely on others to make you happy...the more complicated your life becomes...you will lose yourself in it. One day you wake up and realize you sold yourself to the devil and there is no getting back what you lost.

The most you can hope to do is salvage what you have left.

I do not agree with you people who say "the public" do this to them. They do it to themselves. Why walk around with your beaver showing? Why marry some guy who just got another woman pregnant? Did you think your fate would be any different? Why hang with a tramp like Paris Hilton?

The public GLORIFIES this behaviour and feeds from it. They're a sick lot who do no doubt. But hey, ultimately, how you behave is your choice and she just keeps feeding them more and more to talk about.

So she split with Federline. She should have kept a low profile and let it die off instead of latching on to Paris Hilton and dragging herself down.

She should have gone somewhere and licked her wounds privately until she was ready to show her face again.

Fame ultimately destroyed all those people, but they went along willingly.

Elvis & Michael were talented performers.
Britney & Anna are simply media creations with no talent whatsoever.
The 2 skanks don't belong in the same sentence with Elvis.

Because celebs are constantly built up and knocked over by people. It is a lot of pressure to have every one judging every move you make, waiting for you to fall so they can write about it and sell magazines. I hate it when people say that they put themselves in that position, because it's not true. WE put them in that position. Not record or movie producers. You can make as many Cd's as you want, but if no one buys them, you're career is going nowhere. There are million of girls trying to 'make it big' and they never do. That's because it is really all up to the public who is famous and who isn't.

What a smart person you are. I've been trying to put the words together and ask the same question. You did it best. I would say.....Once you reach the top there is nothing else to look forward to. Us poor old souls would beg to argue that. But.....The rich and famous go to the top and then "Boom"...Gone.

I wouldn't say they have a better life than us. More money yes, but money doesn't buy you happiness. I would rather live in my little house, be in debt and have a reasonably satisfying job anyday, than have journalists poking their noses in my business all the time, and never having anytime just to be me

They forget to stay mentally grounded. They get caught up in the hype of being famous. They loose sight of who they really are and staying true to that.
