I have seen & read lots of information on this subject. One source Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy states: "Geneticists have discovered that all human embryos start life as females, as do all embryos of mammals. About the 2nd month the fetal tests elaborate enough androgens to offset the maternal estrogens and maleness develops." Basically what happens is the "y" chromosone (from the male) starts responding & doing the job it's there for, determining the gender of the baby-to-be. Hope this answers your question.

As you may know, female have XX chromosome and male have XY chromosome. On that tiny Y chromosome there's a gene, called SRY, that tells the embryo's body to produce testicules. If the embryo's female, then the second X commands the formation of ovaries. Then hormones are produced, and penis or uterus appear.

Your nipples are simply made before that 6th week, when the zygote is a "default female" and once they're there, they stay there, even after the testosterone hormone start being produced.

The baby is what it is going to be from the moment of conception, whether or not the sperm had a x or y chromosome determines it, the genitals of a boy start to form later and may appear to be female initially, but genetically, the sex has already been determined.

My OBGYN told me that all embryos start off with both outter sex organs. There is a little slit on the "stump" which is supposed to resemble the penis. After the 9th week or so the slit starts to close or the "stump" starts to go away. Around the 3rd month the internal sex organs start to form.

No....the sex of a baby is determined when the sperm meets the egg depending on X or Y sperm.. X being female Y being male...Early on they all look like females until the organs grow..thats why on ultrasound its hard to determine sex early on.

Good Luck!

Embryo, no. Egg, yes. Difference, embryo is combo of egg and sperm. Sperm decides sex.

No... When the sperm and the egg meet what ever chromosomes are there is what the sex of the baby is. XX=boy? XY=girl? it might be vise versa........ I am pretty sure that is how it is. I might be wrong tho
