Some people are VERY empathetic and can visualize themselves in that very situation that they're acting out and these ultrasensitive people can therefore cry at the drop of a hat. Or maybe they have some "artificial tears" eye drops handy...or maybe they have a bowl of some very strong onions available...but my first guess is probably correct.

Well some actors imagine losing someone close to them to prompt crying. There are also these things called tear sticks. It looks like a tube of clear lipstick. It is vaporous like Vic's salve. If you barely dot it under your eye you will cry.

I think they either use some kinda thing to put into their eyes to make them cry or at the moment they think of something really sad that happened and could meke them cry just thinking about it.

You have to know how to cry by thinking of something that happened bad in your life. It really works, I am a professional actor and it usually helps to think of something that happened in the past that made you cry.

They think of something really sad and/or touching. That usually does the trick if the person is a good enough actor.

It's called acting, duh!

They can pretend to cry. They also have a special chemical something that they can put into your eyes and it stimulates the tear duct and makes you cry.
