Since US Forces started the Bagdad sweep last month, civilian and troop deaths have dropped dramatically. Why doesn't the Press and Congress report it?

Whatever success the "surge" may have will be very short-lived. The Democrats are now preparing to cut off funding for the war in May (despite Stenny Hoyer's claim not to do so).

The Democrats (and about 30 Republicans) are fully 'invested' in our defeat in Iraq (despite the real possibility for the success of the "surge"). The political 'cost' for being on record (non-binding resolutions) stating openly that the surge was "not in the best interest of the country" and then proving to be wrong, would be enormous. Remember how many congressional political careers were ended of those who voted against the first Gulf War in 1990 and were later branded as "cowards" and for not "believing" in America?

No, we will never have a victory in Iraq, now, thanks to the cowards and 'defeatists' in congress. Congress has now 'mandated' our defeat by their 'resolution' and, in a couple of months, by their 'defunding' of the war. They are preparing to create the same disaster that followed cutting off funds in 1975 for the South Vietnamese army.

The mainstream media has never reported any of the plethora of "good news" from Iraq. Why should they start now? The majority of congressmen who signed that resolution will now, for their own political survival, 'ensure' our defeat at any costs. To do otherwise would destroy their White House dreams for 2008.

That al-Sadir dope has also left the country and ran away to his daddy in Iran. They will not report any thing positive because their hatred of President bush and their lust for power is too great.
