i got a linksys router and i am using the cd that came with it..it gets to step 9 and say checking pc setting then ask for a pass word the deafualt is admin it keeps doing that step over and over my router and modem says it has internet the port light is lit up also. does any one kno any solutions

you really don't need to use the cd that came with the router. i have had mine for 5 years and never install the cd. all the default passwords and names are in the router book. these are only necesary if you are changing the router setting itself. this is also not needed to do. if you have everything connected to each other, modem to router and that to the computer, and still can't get online, check to make sure you have pluged the modem into the correct port and not one of the computer ports. also if your connection is DSL, it is possible that you'll need to "bridge " the modem. you'll need to call your ISP to do this.

If you use XP, the CD is not required.

If your router is new, call Linksys tech support.

If you changed the router's password and can't remember it, check the Linksys manual for instructions to reset to factory settings. This should reset the "admin" password setting to your router.
