I’m traveling to St Croix from Philadelphia for my honeymoon in October. When is the best time to buy the plane tickets? What is the average cost for plane tickets? Also, are there any deals because we are traveling during hurricane season?

I am from St. Croix so I hope you enjoy your time there. No, there arent any discounts for traveling during hurricane season. If you call airlines directly for tickets you are going to get significantly higher rates than say using travelocity, expedia, hotwire etc. I mention those 3 b/c I have used those 3 several times to get good fares. From out of Philadelphia US Air sometimes has periodical specials. Get on thier email list so that you can get the email that lets you know when there are specials. I would suggest that you buy your ticket by July-August at the latest. I am sure a special will come around sometime before them. A good price would be considered to be anything btwn 500-600...the specials I have seen from US Air have been at the lowest 370ish. However, those specials usually have strict travel dates and have never accomidated my travel schedule. If you are willing to fly out of another airport Spirit Air has regualr good prices to St Thomas. From St Thomas you can get a ticket on American Eagle for pretty cheap to get you over to St Croix if you dont mind all the stops.

Hello, I'm a painter and I've got a doctor client who bought a home over there a year ago. I went over 4 times in 2006 and went over for new years 2007. On average those 1st four were around $525 round trip and this last one being around the holiday was $850 round trip and we've always taken American. Just beware of San Juan, those people are rude and sorry to say you can't understand them when they call the flights over the pa, when you arrive go right to your gate and ask if your at the right one, it will be gate 1 or 2 and one is upstairs and the other right below it downstairs. Please take me serious, out of the 5 times 3 have been nightmares. Beautiful layed back island, great beeches and good rum, GO TO THE CRUZUN RUM FACTORY, it's free and a good buzz!!!!!
