It has been 3 days the landlord in in Florida..I am told that I must wait 2-3 more days. Can I call an emergency plumber and take it off of the rent ? My child had surgery and there is no hot water for days ...we have electric hot water and I have all electric paid for.

I would imagine that your landlord would certainly consent to you doing that. Call him and tell him what you are doing. The extenuating circumstances of your child's surgery and the landlord's being in Florida do indeed help you if the landlord won't consent. I wouldn't have waited the 3 days. I would have just fixed it under those circumstances. But, do notify your landlord of what you are going to do.
