Ok, do you have a headshot and resume, this is very important. The resume should include at the top:
Your name (centered on the page)
Address
Phone where you can easily be reached in the event of a call back
email
height/weight
eye/hair color
Then list your professional/volunteer acting experience, training
Go to Backstage.com to check out how to set up your resume.
You should then staple your headshot to your resume....Your face on one side and your resume on the other (back to back)...
You should have monologues worked up atleast 4. 2 dramatic and 2 comedic.......you may also be asked to do a cold reading (one where you do not see the script ahead of time)....you may also be asked to do a screen test (only for film). Make sure you can say your monologues in your sleep.
When you get to the audition and it's your turn, follow all instructions given before you enter the room including any they give you in the room.
Walk to the center table and hand your resume and headshot to the moderator/director and shake their hand. Be very sincere and kind. Usually you introduce yourself before you begin and you also introduce the monologue you are going to do. Make certain that you know what their time limitations are. If you only have 2 minutes they mean it.......time yourself and have someone else time you.
Dress in something comfortable but not too casual.
Wear the same outfit to the call back.
If you mess up keep going.....do NOT start over.
Be confident, smile, walk tall and have fun. They can tell within the first 10 seconds of an audition whether they want you or not so make it count and Break-a-leg!

All auditions are not created equal.

Are you being asked to bring in prepared material (i.e., a monologue)? Or is it a "cold reading"? You shouldn't be in the dark about this, anyway. How did you find out about the audition? Was it an audition notice posted somewhere? If so, it probably had on it all the information you need. If NOT...call the theatre and ask! Believe me, you'll NEVER do yourself any harm by asking questions. They want you to be as prepared as possible when you show up; it makes their lives easier, too.

Once you know what/how to prepare, all you can do is take a deep breath, walk CONFIDENTLY into the audition room, and go with the flow.

Read over the script or the script they give you follow these -figure out the background of the character through the script play the part, know who you are what you are doing -brainstorm ways to make your audition interesting. - dont be afraid to move around interact with the people you're auditioning with, -change up the tones of your voice for certain things that happen in a scene. hope this helps!!!!!

Practice what script you are given over and over again and try to give it some punch. Get with your acting coach and ask them also. Oh yeah, you should have had an acting coach.

Just be yourself! Practice answering question and introducing yourself. Here are some questions the might ask:
What experience do you have?
What is different about you?

Introduce yourself. Practice saying your name, you want them to remember you.
Just don't get nervous. Smile and be happy!
