I'm an independant, but it seems to have become obvious ,that many Democrats are willing to sell-out their own country in order to regain political power.
It's one thing to be against the war, but quite another thing to interfere w/ our ability to win.

Champ2785---Those Iraqis were not simply running away,--they were regrouping, to fight a guerilla type war, like the one that defeated the Russians in Afghanistan.

Ianwood---Couldn't you say that about any war we have ever had?
If you have figgured out some special way to keep all countries from following their own interests and thereby avoiding war; please share your glorious ideas with the rest of us.

Kungfufig---Are you saying that you only intend to support those wars that happen when Democrats are in power?
Otherwise, why does it make any difference who's in power?
Just the fact that you believe the war was "already lost", shows that you're ready and willing to surrender and submit, even though that will embolden the terrorists.
The terrorists have long been claiming that America is a "paper tiger", so I guess they know YOU very well, and can even predict your behavior.

Kungfufig---Providing negative propaganda to our enemies and destroying the morale of our troops, hardly puts you in the glorious company of Roosevelt and Twain.
All one needs to defend "free speech" is a loud mouth, but it takes courage to support an unpopular war to a satisfactory conclusion, w/o surrendering and submitting to the enemy.

The war was lost long before the Dems came into power. And the Dems were not the ones to sit our troops in the middle of another country's civil war.
Where in the little paragraph did I say that I would only support war if Dems start it? I was against this war since day one and it doesn't matter who was or was not in power. Before the Dems came into power, didn't Bush say we are losing the war? And wasn't the Repubs in power when the war started? Or was both of these things part of my imagination? What I said was fact and isn't kind of arrogant to assume that you know what my beliefs are just because my opinion may be different than yours. I vote for the best candidate, not the party. Never have. Can you say the same?
Theodore Roosevelt: 'To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.' "Roosevelt in the Kansas City Star", 149; May 7, 1918.
Mark Twain: 'The government is merely a servant -- merely a temporary servant; it cannot be its prerogative to determine what is right and what is wrong, and decide who is a patriot and who isn't. Its function is to obey orders, not originate them.'

One more time, there was no war, there were some Iraqi soldiers running away from the most powerful military in the world, no problem; what we lost was peace, the rebuilding of a country that we decimated, the understanding that people will not have another country's will forced on them, no matter how tyrannical their own country.

Because this war was a stupid idea to begin with, and staying there is even more stupid.
If your definition of "patriot" means someone who will continue to support their leaders' stupid behavior no matter what the cost, then you and I will have to disagree on what a patriot is.

Win the war? What does win the war mean? republians cant define it and everything they do makes it worse. Democrats are trying to end it before it becomes an even bigger disaster than republicans have already made it
